The annual Nebraska Methodist conference closed Monday after a productive session. Resolutions praising Falls City and its people were adopted, followed by a long list of preacher assignments for the coming year across districts including Nebraska City, Lincoln, and surrounding communities.

Humboldt residents witnessed a fine flower parade last Saturday overshadowing the canceled carnival events. Fourteen flower decorated rigs led by the band paraded the streets, each display praised for artistry and color.
Humboldt resident Mrs. O A Cooper who suffered serious gasoline burns weeks ago remains in critical condition. Complications have arisen and physicians from St Joseph have been called in for consultation. she is well known locally and her friends await her recovery.
Jack and Phil Hinkle of Stella visited Humboldt for a flower parade and later entered Jim Daviss saloon where Pearl Parker a Humboldt athlete and fighter confronted them. Jack Hinkle suffered a broken nose and severe facial cuts while Phil Hinkle had a cut above the eye and minor bruises. Parker sustained a dislocated thumb. All three were arrested and fined.
The display in Geo Holt's shoe store windows features ribbons won by Will Holt for hogs shown at Nebraska Kansas Missouri and Iowa state fairs. The ribbons vary in size and color from sweepstakes to fourth premiums, reflecting time labor skill breeding and substantial expense.
The Conference G A R, a group of Methodist veterans, held its annual meeting in the G A R hall with visiting veterans and local members attending. Officers elected included Commander P C Johnson and Senior Vice Commander J W Stewart, with Rev Roberts sounding the assembly call. Harrison Presson of Auburn gave a stirring address in his ninetieth year, ending with a vow that the American flag will fly forever beside the crimson robe of Jesus.

A fly wheel on the main power engine at Humboldt burst into fragments last Sunday. Engineer William Loenneke narrowly escaped death and the building suffered partial wrecking. The city remained in darkness awaiting repairs to the engine.
Time tested comedy Si Plunkard entertained a large Gehling audience on Tuesday evening. The play features clever specialties and vaudeville acts performed by capable artists. The band also gave two successful open air concerts.
Mrs Peter Resterer hosted the L B T club meeting at her home with gracious hospitality. Elaborate refreshments were served and attendees enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon, according to reports.
A man, not identified, was hit by a westbound Missouri Pacific train about a mile east of the depot Monday afternoon. He suffered a fractured arm and minor bruises, was treated at the station by Dr. Burchard, and said he was walking from Kansas City to Omaha.
In Falls City three ward Republicans met at the courthouse to nominate candidates for supervisor justice of the peace and constables. John Hinton John L Cleaver and John Mossman Jr and the incumbents Frank Camblin and James Nausler were nominated by acclamation with thanks expressed. The meeting closed with a harmony note and a committee to fill any vacancies.
The inaugural meeting of Falls City Commercial Club drew a large crowd at the courthouse. Officers elected include George Hall as President, L Wirth Vice President, W A Greenwald Treasurer, and W G Lyford Director among others.
The plan would add about 1500 new workers to Falls City and create a monthly payroll around 325000. Officials urge continued pursuit and persistence to secure the project.
The commercial club invites all telephone companies to appear on the second Monday in October and state their claims. The telephone situation is serious and deserves careful consideration.
Mrs Ed M May entertained the Married Ladies Kensington club on last Thursday afternoon. Members were pleasantly entertained and spent a delightful afternoon.

The group chartered a hack last Friday evening and traveled to the Keim home northwest of the city where they were warmly hosted by Miss Jennie Keim.
