The Woodmen Circle ladies hosted the lodge in the W O W hall Saturday evening. Strawberries, ice cream and cake were served and guests reported a most enjoyable time.
Prof. William Harnack signed a contract yesterday to supply both band and orchestra for the Salem-Chautauqua. Rehearsals start immediately and Chau tauqua patrons are assured of first class music throughout the session.
A child of Chas Leizke was bitten Wednesday by a dog owned by Mrs. Davis on Morgan Place. The boy was hurt on both legs with the left leg injury severe enough to need surgical care.
County supervisors have been in session this week as a board of equalization and have listened to many protests and adjusted many matters pertaining to taxation. The board will probably remain in session about two weeks.
Mayor Barton receives notice from Barnum & Bailey management that the circus will visit during the season. Local business leaders have funded the venture and the exact date will be announced soon.
Whitaker Bros. sold J. F. Clegg’s drug store to Dr. T. C. McMillan of Fullerton Neb a move set for July 1. McMillan has lived in Fullerton eighteen years and is experienced in the drug trade.
Nettie E Young married Dr A W Montgomery at Stella on Wednesday evening. The bride is a known and popular young woman and the groom a young physician with a bright professional future. The Tribune extends its congratulations.
An open Royal Arcanum gathering filled the Jenne opera house on Tuesday evening with members and invited guests. Rev Mackay and W M Giller of Omaha spoke with notable eloquence, drawing steady attention from the audience. The event showcased a large, representative local membership and gratitude for the entertainment, highlighted by Blanche Kerr’s vocal solo.
Two games between Falls City and Beatrice were played Sunday and Monday. Beatrice won Sunday 8 to 7. Monday's game went extra innings with Falls City winning 4 to 3 after ten innings in a hard fought contest.
An error appeared on the editorial page stating a Republican year remark of no consequence to the democratic mayor. The editor clarifies it was a compositor error and not aimed at the city administration.
Mail carrier Lively on horseback struck one of Charles Heilman’s horses as he rode past on Route 5. Heilman did not move aside and the team nearly got beyond control as the incident sparked a sudden disturbance.

The Christian church held a Tuesday tea at J. R. Cain's home to honor Will Wherry for about twenty years of serving as Sunday School superintendent. He has resigned to move to California.
Oscar Frohberg a druggist in Preston was found dead in his store Tuesday morning. Coroner Reneker and a jury ruled death as unknown in cause but not due to violence. Frohberg, about 35 and unmarried, left a grieving mother. John Wiltse passed the Lincoln bar exam with top grades in a class of fifteen.
Ira Johnson visited Craig on Sunday. George Smith the Republican candidate for representative was in town yesterday. Hon. E. A. Tucker, Republican candidate for state senator, was in town Monday and is noted as a new grandfather. Several residents traveled to Chicago and Denver for visits, and a Fourth of July celebration is planned in Barada.
