Wittrock Purchases Fine Duroc Jersey Hogs for Local Herd

Rh W Wittrock and Eph Peck returned from Des Moines Iowa with two top mile Duroc Jersey hogs to head Wittrock’s herd. The animals will be shown at the Owl State Fair in Des Moines this week and the state fair in Lincoln next week. They are exceptionally fine blooded animals and will improve Wittrock’s already fine herd.

Forgery Arrest Ties Falls City Native to Auburn Case

W. W. Leekins, once of Falls City now in Minneapolis, was arrested in Auburn for forgery linked to a Richardson county grand jury indictment later dismissed for an offense not stated. The Titus nursery of Nemaha City employed him to forge C. F. Reavis’s name on a fruit tree order for which he earned a commission. Reavis refused to prosecute. the nursery company filed the case. Leekins arranged bondsmen in Falls City Wednesday as friends hope he clears himself.

Robbery at Cleveland's Store Clips Iron Barrier

Chester Fisher discovered the Cleveland's department store burglarized Thursday morning. Thieves torn corrugated iron from the ware room, shattered the glass transom, and stole about 20 in trade checks plus a few neckties and tobacco items. Police are alert.

Mrs. Gerdes Dies After Long Illness in Grand Island Area

Julia Zorn Gerdes born August 12 1842 Germany died August 26 1907 at her daughter Mrs Emma Scoby home aged 64 years 14 days. She came to the United States at eleven settling in Illinois then Iowa and Nebraska where she and William Gerdes raised eleven children. Funeral was held at Mrs Seeby home with Rev Gradewohl and burial at Frick cemetery ten miles north. Surviving children include Mrs Gus Haller Grand Island Neb Mrs Fred Frauenfelder Verdon Mrs Ford Parden Mrs Henry Voegle Mrs Michael Egner Mrs Emma Scoby John Gerdes William Gerdes and Henry Gerdes. Two sisters and a brother also survive.

Juvenile Burglars From Humboldt in Court

The case against Humboldt youths Oran Gume O A Cooper and the Shaffer boys was continued to the September term. They were released on bail to appear before Judge Raper who will decide whether they go to probation reform school or a reform facility.

Guests depart after week visit to Mrs Shields

The guests of Mrs. John Shields who had been visiting for a week returned home on Tuesday. They included her sister Mrs George E Jennings and daughters Mrs W A Williams and Miss Marion Jennings of Garden Grove Iowa and Mrs George M Ayers and her little daughter Virginia of Weldon Iowa.
