The message calls for居民 to tidy up properties now that the time of year has arrived. It emphasizes a small city task and urges everyone to begin immediately. It also condemns stock driving onto streets and sidewalks.
The Woman's Choral Society was organized last Monday evening with Mrs Charles E Banks as instructor. An executive board was appointed including Mesdames Charles M Wilson P B Weaver A G Warner and Misses Elizabeth Miller and Nellie Gilman secretary treasurer. Rev F B Oliver leads a large evangelistic effort in East Liverpool Ohio with twenty churches united in the drive. The tabernacle is crowded to the doors and will require enlargement. Falls City churches plan a similar June meeting with the famed preacher.
The Gehling theater hosted The Village Parson on Monday evening. The cast impressed the crowd with solid performances from Little Myrtle Gretchen Van Crans Andy Thom and Rev Tom Godley while Fern Godley Bud Gordon and Felix Gordon also stood out.
After the city election the mayor elect names appointments for the new term. Chief of Police L. C. Beasley, Marshal Samuel Marts, Night Police Frank Camblin, City Attorney John C. Wiltse, City Physician Dr. Wm. R. Boose, Water Commissioner Geo. H. Fallstead, Street Commissioner Carl T. Lippold, Fire Chief W. K. Knight are named for the coming year.

Christian Dankemeyer died of apoplexy at his nephew J R Shaffer’s home Sunday April 7 in this city. Born in Wilengen Neusteijngbrach Han over Germany he came to America June 24 1864 and worked as a shoemaker in St Louis St Joseph and Nebraska City. He married Nancy Shaffer in 1872. one daughter died in childhood. Surviving relatives include J R Shaffer Middletown IN and Mrs Will Corn Salem. Funeral Tuesday at Vonbergen German Lutheran Church with interment at Fred Kernon cemetery.
The school board re elected Prof. Tobie as superintendent for two years with a salary increase. Tobie is praised as an efficient manager and his continued service is welcomed by the board.
The city high school pedagogy class visited Miss Agnes Moran’s school northeast of the city last Thursday afternoon. The visit aimed to give future teachers a chance to study the management of a country school and was described as commendable work.
The I O O F lodges in this city prepare for the eighty eighth anniversary to be celebrated on the 26th. Salem Humboldt Dawson Rule Preston Verdon Stella Shubert and other camps across the county will attend. An elegant banquet will accompany an elaborate program.
Sam Prater underwent a third operation last Saturday performed by Drs. Houston Reneker and Boose. The entire little finger was removed and the wound is healing well with overall improvement. the earlier injury from last October caused the trouble.
Frank L. Dawley of New York Weds Etta Clark of Kearney and others in a series of marriages recorded by Judge Gagnon on April 9. Participants include Ferdinand Volz Falls City, Sophia Finck Falls City, James Murphy Reserve Kansas, Francis Edie White Cloud Kansas, George E. Wittner Dawson, Mattie Stalder Salem, and Will Tangney near Rulo visited town Tuesday.
The Miles will case continues a two week session with reading depositions and occasional new evidence. Joseph Miles and lawyers push for different testimony, spotlighting Moore as the main new witness who claims Stephen B. Miles discussed leaving most property to Joe and showed the will. Cross examination reveals letters Moore denies receiving, while Webster cites copies. Harbaugh then testifies as the case remains unresolved likely to take two more weeks.
Mrs. Adolph Betram has been ill this week. The infant son of Prof. and Mrs. Toby has measles. John Gilligan left Tuesday for Greeley Colorado to bid on a drainage contract. Mrs. Bruno Hanson, with Dr and Mrs W H Kerr, passed through to Omaha. Will A Schock moved to Las Animas Colorado and is linked to Las Animas Realty Co. His ad appears on page eight. Will is known here and his land investments are a guarantee of value. The region shows prosperity and wealth as it advances locally.
Mrs. J R Ramsey hosted a dinner for Miss Avis Wadhams of Lincoln visiting Miss Sallie Schoentieit. The Kensington Club and guests enjoyed an elegant luncheon at Mrs. Will Crook Jr house. Council friends met Miss Elizabeth Miller for an evening program with readings and refreshments. Sorosis met April 10 with Mrs Jussen. French and Moelish word lists, literary items, and poetry featured. The Tournament Whist Club closed its year at May Maddox home with a cake walk and a planned summer session. The Needle Club met with Mrs Wirth for sewing and will meet with Mrs Louise Deuchler next Tuesday. Knights and Ladies of Security Council 410 toured Salem to visit their counterparts.
Community updates from Plattsmouth include council notes on 28 applications and 14 initiations at Wahl's Hall, social dances lasting late, and plans for Richardson Council on the honor roll. Various residents move, travel, subscribe, and attend church events while market activity, chautauqua plans, and library refreshes feature in a busy period.
The legislature adjourned and Judge Cleaver returns Saturday from Lincoln where he served as Senate chamber book-keeper. The recent session was notably active with many large measures passed.
