Tim Crowley deputy sheriff of Johnson county and a noted Republican leader dies at the hospital for the insane in Independence after a nervous disorder. He was 44, previously county auditor for six years and appointed deputy sheriff 18 months ago, leaving a strong personal following in the county.
Sioux City Nov 17 Billy Twojohns an Indian with French commercialism buys a large Seeing Chicago car and leaves for Yankton then Bonesteel to establish a stage line between Bonesteel and Gregory. He may add a touring car next spring to run a regular passenger line and carry the United States mail with a trailer.
Harry McCullough of Perry Iowa was indicted for maintaining a nuisance and selling liquor contrary to law. He feigned illness to avoid arrest, was granted bonds, then fled the country before daybreak the next morning.
The Iowa state railroad commission held a session in Muscatine to hear Walter Johnson's case against the Rock Island road. Johnson seeks to compel operation of the Wilton to Lime City line abandoned years ago. No decision was issued.
Daniel Wrenn of Webster City was sentenced by Judge Reed in federal court to eighteen months in the state prison at hard labor for sending obscene matter through the mails. He was taken in charge to serve the term in Anamosa, arising from letters to a former female associate that led to officials becoming involved after a quarrel.
J C Whitney a former well known newspaper man and politician of Franklin county died in Minneapolis after a brief illness. He founded the Hampton Chronicle and had been a progressive citizen of the county. his wife died several months ago.

Near Belgrade Minnesota a man is missing with about 700 dollars. Authorities fear death by own action or foul play as he left discouraging letters to relatives. Father-in-law Pleggen kohle travels to Belgrade to aid the search while Hawkeye area relatives plan to care for the daughter and family.
C S Relyea of Forest City is named deputy collector of the United States internal revenue for the third division of Iowa's Third district to succeed W S Weston. He previously edited the Forest City Summit and comes from Des Moines where he served in the agriculture department. Hon A C Smith of Storm Lake is collector for the district.
Osceola Iowa November 17 The Clarke county grand jury indicted Clark Williamson for first degree murder in the death of his father in law L L DeLong who died after allegedly being given strychnine on September 8 1904. Bond set at ten thousand dollars after attorney agreement. Bondsmen furnished. Warrant served this morning.
Fort Dodge Iowa November 17 The case of J C Wilhite indicted by the grand jury for practicing medicine without a license opened with sharp exchanges between defense and prosecution and local physicians who testified Doctors Kime and Kennedy attended and testified The jury will decide Wilhites fate in the morning
In Clear Lake on November 18 Rev. Mr. Mathis of the Methodist revival toured Blake billiard hall. He mounted a table and delivered gospel truths while players left cues to listen as his singer drew in old timers with gospel hymns. The revival work stirs the town.
A mass meeting in Kanawha Iowa outlined plans for a farmers association. Organizers reported stock subscriptions over $5 6ne with more expected and aims to handle grain farm implements and coal. Clinton Iowa November 18 Chief Thomas Price of the Clinton fire department was severely hurt when an auto driver Garret Lamb passed the fire wagon while responding to a call scraping Price from the side step. He suffered cuts and bruises with no broken bones.
Fort Dodge Iowa November 18 train crews on the M and St L line to Ruthven lament the death of Mrs. Leonard Chase of Callender a longtime friend who greeted crews at the track with a wave and cheer. Her passing ends a century old hospitality and a ritual cherished by Brakeman Tuttle and many generations of railroad workers.
Jos S. Trigg of Des Moines buys the Grinnell Gazette for his son P R Trigg of Rockford. The semi weekly republican paper will be managed by P R Trigg from Dec 1, with Wetherbee remaining in the job department for a year. P R Trigg, a 1005 Iowa College graduate and brother of Rockford Register editor, will take possession soon.

The Marshalltown Herald editor S. P. Ayers, a prominent local and state figure, died last night from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home. A note found in his desk cited paralysis and loss of hope as motives. Ayers, a Republican, leaves a wife and six children, with relatives in North Dakota and Marshalltown.
Eli D. Lawson about 48 died suddenly while loading coal near Ottumwa from heart disease. He lived southwest of the city, had worked in Ottumwa coal trade, and was a member of Glenwood camp No. 1740 M W A. Funeral at his residence followed by burial in Fairfield.
John Coffin, a longtime Mason City resident, dropped dead this morning at the Pierre South Dakota depot from heart failure while traveling with his daughter, a nurse at the local Odd Fellows Orphans Home.
