Eskimo tableau burns girls at Loretto academy
In Kansas City on October 31 Miss Virginia Owen of Independence Missouri and Miss Mamie Tierman died from burns suffered during a North Pole tableau at Loretto academy. Miss Mary Maley was severely burned but alive in critical condition. The play featured Eskimo costumes and a candle accident caused flames to spread to stage decorations. The fire was put out before firefighters arrived.
