Mrs. Daisy Keltner wife of Charles Keltner a well known local insurance man died at 130 this morning after a brief illness with the flu She had suffered asthma for years She was born February 27 1882 in Jefferson county near Richland and lived in the city all her life Survived by her husband two children Harry and Louise Funeral plans pending arrival of relatives.
Kilzer was reelected superintendent of Batavia schools for the next year. He previously held the post at Libertyville and later moved to Fairfield to engage in real estate. He joined Batavia schools last fall.
Jefferson county veterans organize the Charles Van Nostrand camp to honor the first fallen soldier from the county. About twenty members are joined by more eligible veterans as State Commander Cooper of Marshalltown plans a spring institute. Officers elected: Commander J S Gaumer Vice Commander H C Stevenson Adjutant Geo C Woods Quartermaster James Turner Sergeant at arms Chas B Mullenix.
Edward Wright a Wichita Falls railroad engineer hunted for his brother Will Wright of Wells and sister Ella Nowlin for decades. After 42 years apart he located Will and learned Ella had died in Oklahoma years earlier. The trio held a family reunion at Ella Nowlin's former Carleton home.
Ralph Courtney son of Mr and Mrs W P Courtney died last Friday at home after a two week illness with pneumonia. He leaves his parents a brother and sister. Funeral services were held Sunday at the home one mile north of the city.
In Des Moines the Democratic conference named Rob ert B. Louden for railroad commissioner but he rejects the offer, saying he was not consulted and would not accept regardless of election chances. The slate also lists Gov. candidate Tinley declining, and Herring as the United States senator choice with several other state posts filled.
Shan Campbell, longtime head of the state auto theft division, files for nomination as a Republican candidate for county sheriff. He faces Sheriff Walter Harris and Chuck McCampbell, basing his bid on his past county sheriff service and notable crime-fighting record.
Finley McKennon Smock, born February 18 1844 in Franklin county Indiana, died March 19 1922 at his Keota Iowa home after a brief illness of paralysis. He was part of an eight child family and among Keota and Keokuk county's early settlers. His father Rev D W Smock served as missionary pastor of the local Presbyterian church from 1861 to 1878.
Mrs. Vera White Morrison reports the sudden death of George W. White in Lewistown Montana after a paralytic attack. Born 1850 in Fairfield Iowa, he lived in Montana since 1910 and leaves a widow, six children, two brothers and eight grandchildren, with funeral services planned at the local Methodist Episcopal church.
A two act comedy titled A Perplexing Situation by the Royal Oaks Lutheran Sunday school class will be performed next Wednesday evening April 5 at 8 oclock in Yeoman hall. Thirteen characters star in humorous family scenes including Mr Middleton his wife Jessie Sue Lucy Fair Maud Nosie Uncle Bp and others. A health officer a fire scare music and more entertain. Admission is small.
Hugh S. McGill of the National Educational Association urged at a Leggett hotel joint Rotary Lions Forum meeting that education yields big dividends. He spoke to city teachers at the High School and addressed Lions luncheon emphasizing broader learning beyond books to improve leadership and public service. McGill, a former Illinois legislator, characterized as a forceful speaker.

Advices report George W White died last Sunday at his Lewistown residence of a paralytic stroke. He had long operated hay and feed businesses in this city and later turned to farming in Montana. He sent occasional letters from his new home to the Tribune.

Fairfield High School team led by Burket Massey Clarence Zeigler and Ira Lyon captured the silver cup in the sheep judging contest and took fifth in grain judging at the Ames livestock and grain judging contests closing Friday. Thirty nine schools competed, the largest turnout in five years of the cups.
Batavia citizen George Molden was naturalized Monday by Clerk Zeigler with Judge Vermillion administering the oath. The change shifted allegiance from England to the United States. Molden, who came to America in 1908, recently moved from Batavia to Agency to work as a paperhanger.
A former city resident reports the death of Robert Templeton in Tekamah Nebraska. He was the son of another Robert Templeton once a prominent local figure years ago.
