Spalding dies after long illness in Fairfield life maker
W C Spalding aged 62 or 72? died at his Fairfield home last Saturday March 20 after a lengthy illness. He led Iowa Malleable Iron Co and previously worked in marble and cement construction. A native of Vermont born 1853 he was a food administrator during the war and active in civic affairs. Survived by widow married 1885, plus a brother and two sisters in Vermont. Funeral Tuesday under Knights Templar with banks and factories observing mourning.

Life Restored To Davenport Farmer Technically Dead
William Claussen of Davenport near Eldridge survived a prolonged cardiac arrest after camphorated oil injections and artificial respiration revived his heart.
