A mining town in Idaho reports a fatality at a show scene. Local authorities investigate the death as a worksite incident and identify the deceased as a miner affiliated with nearby operations. The community mourns as officials review safety protocols.
Early reports from Walla Walla indicate about sixty deaths after a half mile long snow slide at Mace Idaho. Five hundred rescuers battle a raging blizzard as more bodies are recovered and injured are transported to Wallace.
An avalanche hit Mace and Burke destroying many homes. Fourteen bodies were found at Mace and sixteen at Burke. A thousand rescuers work the ruins. Thirty five Italian workers in a sleeper car on the Northern Pacific siding were swept into the canyon but escaped using tools to dig out.
Jefferson county township trustees held a regular meeting to set a uniform road work plan. John P. Manatrey presided. D. B. Coop became secretary. Topics included road dragging, gasoline engine grading, and a proposed eight mills levy for road purposes. The session adjourned to meet the last Saturday in March.

Lockridge Iowa February 26 Andy Anderson a highly respected citizen died suddenly at the livery barn after heart pains worsened during the day He spoke with friends at the drug store and after a fatal heart attack collapsed died instantly while others were away The funeral was held at 2 pm Saturday and drew many friends.

Fairfield switches to new Fairfield Gas and Electric building on March 1 delivering 300 horsepower capacity. The system includes 150 KW and 75 KW dynamos and will power factories and homes day and night once motor consignments arrive. Leading city manufacturers have contracted power, signaling strong business growth for the venture.
Des Moines Feb 21 President A B Storms of Ames College addressed the state veterinarians at their annual convention banquet urging continued fight against diseased stock and contaminated milk. Dr W J Sumner appealed to wipe out consumption in Town. Henry Wallace urged livestock improvement with remarks from several Ames and Midland school figures.
In Ft. Madison on Feb 18 the jury sided with Helen Beach in the case against Rose Beach and others, awarding 1600 dollars though 5000 was sought. The suit alleged a German newspaper ad falsely presenting a son as landholder and fiancé, with letters aiding the marriage. The court noted the case as unusual and its outcome attracted discussion. The defendants accepted the verdict.
The school board weighs several proposed sites for a new school house. Considerations include the R. T. Gilmer property north of Adams street, the Maria Lamson property, a tract tied to H. F. Pumphrey, and land owned by I. D. Jones east of the others. Proposal to open Washington street toward H street could influence site decisions.
