Magdalena Shafer Ringelspach born in 1843 in Germany died at her son Jacob Ringselspach’s home five miles east of town after months of illness. She and husband Philip Ringelspach settled in Jefferson county about 35 years ago, joined the Methodist church, and are buried at Evergreen cemetery following funeral conducted by Rev. T. S. Pool and Rev. W. L. Bright.
The corner stone of the new St. Mary's Catholic church will be laid next Sunday between 1 and 12 o clock in the morning. Bishop Davis of Davenport will officiate and Attorney John Galvin of Council Bluffs will deliver the address. Priests from various places are expected to attend and a general invitation is extended to all.
After the third day sales are six times higher than last season with many tents and lots spoken for. A. Huglin reports rapid demand and a larger camp population expected. New tents, conveniences, and camping spaces are provided by churches lodges and institutions. About seventy prime lots remain inviting farmers to secure sites. A plat is available at the office of J. Huglin over Jefferson County Bank.
Richard Myers died Wednesday two miles east of Abingdon after a long illness. A native of Pennsylvania born in 1850, he moved to Iowa early and lived on the farm where he died for more than fifty years. He served as a county supervisor and is survived by his widow and four children. Funeral services were held Thursday with interment at Abingdon.
