Salem Iowa June 29 A man known locally as John Wesley Stipes learns his legal name is Albert Overrocker. Abandoned in 1869 at a hotel, he was raised by the Stipes family. Dr Albert Broll in Kansas City identified Overrocker as the son of Mrs Charles Overrocker, stating a relative urged removal of the infant.

Two nine year old boys lured two horses from a pasture and started toward the river. Bristow's mount reared and struck a buggy carrying Mrs. Hanlon and Miss Ester Kevitz, throwing them out.
