A public meeting at the library last week backed plans to create a fully equipped county hospital serving Fairfield and Jefferson. A 15-member board of directors was named to secure a site and operate the hospital, with reports due at the January 26 adjourned session. Meanwhile disputes discussed include A J Jarrett’s 1904 expulsion case and claims by Orinoco companies over iron mines asphalt privileges and river navigation rights.

Hamery accused Riegelman of violating civil service by urging appointments before exams and noted other officials faced similar pressure.
