The Florence Frescola area hosts the America Club meeting on January 11 with dressmaking and social time. Numerous residents from Batavia and nearby towns attended. Many names and travels are listed including visits to Ottumwa, Fairfield, and Washington. A revival at the Batavia Christian church is noted, along with Masons installing officers and a local obituary for Harvey Milton Henderson.
Mrs E H Sandeen and children returned from Ottumwa last Thursday. Miss Ernestine recovering but will return to hospital for further treatment. Henry Shuppy visited relatives near Germanville. Several local visits and fundraising at Methodist Ladies Aid. Automobiles shows in Burlington. Farmer's Shipping Association shipped hogs to St Louis. Ice harvesting noted with multiple farms active. Church activities include Sunday school officer elections and a surprise for W H Turner. Various residents mentioned with family visits and local errands. Born to Alvin Holland er and wife a son January 18.
Mrs J E Prince of Fairfield reports visitors and local happenings in Buchanan including birthdays and birthdays of neighbors. The Beckwith Farmer's Union No 234 hosted a packed meeting with candy and popcorn and student performances. A death toll includes a Pittsburg visitor and a baby in Buchanan township.
Pleasant Plain reports visitations by Miss June Chidhester and others, a high school exam week, and a local field man. Obituary details Ruth Emry born 1835 in Indiana, died 1922 in Pleasant Plain, with extensive family and Friends church funeral, burial at Walnut Creek. The community honors her long life and Indiana-to-Iowa migration.
Edgar Bennett near Libertyville visited Wesley Watson and Ed Hosler homes last Tuesday night. The Busy Bee club elected officers with Mrs. A A Soetens as president and Mrs. Jose Rice as secretary. Farmers Union unloaded a car of coal at Yeo. Numerous neighbors attended church, basketball games, and family visits across Fairfield Packwood Pleasant Plain and Woolson.
