Cedar Rapids Iowa seven years ago A R Whitmore vanished after a family reunion leaving no trace. On New Year Eve a telegram from Whitmore revealed he would join his daughter in Waterloo New Year Day confirming he was alive. He said his home is in Cleveland and he spoke with his wife by phone from Waterloo. He offered no explanation for his disappearance.
J W Graber of Glasgow area lauds Frank Randolph who has carried mail on the Salem rural route for over twenty one years. Randolph uses a car or horse team as conditions demand and also manages a forty acre farm. Roinggold county plans to raze Mt Ayr courthouse built in 1883 for a new 200000 building. Leroy Taylor, 27, dies from injuries after hedge pulling machine accident on Wilson farm near Clarinda.
Mrs. Mary Ludwig, 25, admitted to Allentown Hospital with severe stomach pains. An X ray revealed spoons later removed by Dr Schaeffer in an operation. She does not recall swallowing them and had been ill for three years. The spoons, displayed in the hospital lab, were described as regular size.

Citizens are urged to contribute, with many expected to donate through the Band Auxiliary and local business leaders. Fred W. Johnson has taken over The Wardrobe cleaning pressing business of Fred Wray on West Broadway near the port office. The new proprietor assumed possession last Monday and will hire an expert dry cleaner. Johnson, from Hillsboro, previously co‑owned Elite billiard room and the Court hotel after moving to the city about a year and a half ago. Wray remains silent on future plans.
Brookville local of the Farmers Union voted to send the charter to the state secretary and discontinue the group. A social and educational community club may be formed.
