In Columbus Junction Iowa last night a three to four year old boy toppled a kerosene can on a stove, igniting his clothing and oil on the fabric. His parents James Allicks and wife from Concord township suffered severe burns to hands arms and face as they tried to extinguish the blaze.

Craig, who shot his wife and fled to Okuk, is dying of brain injuries at St Joseph's hospital after a failed self harm attempt. He was moved from the county jail to the hospital at 11:30 after the shooting at her parents' home last week.

Henry Aul of Fort Madison leaped from a Rock Island freight train one mile above here and was run over, losing his right foot. He survived the accident, was found wearing clothing and carrying several dollars, and was taken to the Her Hospital in Davenport for treatment.

Davenport Iowa December 18 The mystery of the dug up leg is solved as Arnold Otto captain of Davenport high school football team is revealed to be the buried leg owner mislaid on the wrong lot. The leg was amputated recently and the family had buried it on the wrong plot triggering police investigation.
Robert Rogers sued L E Lyon for 5000 alleging permanent injuries after his horse was frightened by Lyon's automobile. A Johnson county jury awarded Rogers 2250. Lyon is a local jewelry manufacturer. case marked the first auto accident lawsuit in the county.
Thirty two young women entered Mt Carmel the mother house of the Sisters of Charity in Dubuque Iowa this morning taking the white veil and a religious name. The reception ceremony was conducted by Rev A M Clark the chaplain.
P J Coffey a freight engineer for the Northwestern died when his skull was crushed by a covered bridge near Calamus while he searched the cab for a hot box. He leaves a wife in Clinton two brothers in Spencer Neb and parents in O'Neil Neb.
Teresa Myers, eight, daughter of John P. Myers of Holy Cross, was instantly killed this afternoon by an accidental shotgun discharge in the hands of her eleven-year-old brother at Dubuque.

Ottumwa Iowa December 19 fifty masked men seized H C Wilson from his home two miles east of Albia and marched him in nightclothes to a pond a mile away. They broke the ice and ducked him in protest at his testimony in proceedings leading to his wife's confinement in the insane asylum.
John Burge of Mt. Vernon longtime founder and supporter of Cornell College died at University Hospital Iowa City at age seventy eight. He was among Iowa’s earliest settlers with his family after moving to Mt. Vernon in 1838 and helped establish Cornell College.
Mrs Glenn Vaughn of Leon committed suicide by swallowing carbolic acid about 1 AM. The death occurred within minutes and burial was set for Saline Missouri after the body was taken Friday afternoon. No reason for the act is known.
