Ottumwa Iowa April 22 Rock Island train No 3 derailed near Laddsdale station after striking an unknown obstruction. Fireman N D Bunt of Trenton Missouri died instantly while Engineer Cheshire also of Trenton was badly injured and a mail clerk was slightly hurt. The engine buried in a ditch and both baggage and mail cars derailed.

Creston Men Beaten in Chicago Restaurant Attack

A large brick power plant 160 by 55 feet on a stone foundation is being erected in Sheldon. Workmen are assembling the foundation and a 60 by 55 foot engine room will house new machinery to supply electric power for mills and city light service.
