Census Enumerators Pay and Schedules for 1880 Map
The law creates a President appointed census supervisor per state with pay 500. The secretary of the interior will appoint enumerators. Rates vary by subdivision from 2 cents per habitation to 15 cents per productive establishment. Most divisons pay up to 4 dollars daily east of the 100th meridian and 6 dollars daily west. Each enumerator covers about 4000 inhabitants. Enumeration runs June 1 to July 1, 1880, with cities to finish in two weeks.
