Bathorns Sale At Ten County Farm Auction

A sale of pure bred Short horns at Klin's farm near Ten and Shelby drew a good crowd. Twenty one females and twelve bulls averaged over $100 each with strong demand. The sale, held in Mr. McLaughlin's barn, concluded satisfactorily despite bidders needing better visibility from higher seats.

Northbound Burlington passenger train struck an automobile near the Sovilla depot at noon. Dr. Dye and his companion were thrown clear and not seriously hurt. Dr. Dye’s $1,200 car was wrecked. Conductor was Frank Price of Des Moines.

A loaded shotgun in the Diersk home killed a boy as he played with the gun while his mother lay sick. John, age unspecified, died within thirty minutes after the discharge near Hor nick, four miles northwest of Sioux City Iowa.

George Poell fireman on the St Joseph Rio Grande railway saved the infant child of Mr and Mrs Paul Ussary of Powell Nebraska from a speeding freight near the Kansas Nebraska line in June 1905. He lost his left leg and suffered severe injuries but received a Medal of Honor from Congress and a Carnegie hero commendation plus 250. The incident led to his election as Hall County clerk despite an opposing Republican candidate.

Tornado Sighted North of Clearmont Affected Farms in Page County
