Demolition Ends Era of Fairfield Store at Corner
The final stages of the Fairfield Store demolition concluded on Monday, as two old walls near Post and Reef roads were removed for safety. Town planning director Joseph DevonsHuk said the remaining structures could not be retained or attached to a new building due to zoning and property line rules. The project, valued at 16 million dollars, will revamp the site with an 80 000 square foot building anchored by a Borders bookstore music store and cafe. The redevelopment faces ongoing tenant and legal challenges, including a parking garage dispute led by Realtor Douglas Munson that was resolved in court.
