Fairfield ophthalmologist Dr. Joseph Bentivegna started Port-au-Prince Eye Foundation with Dr. Thomas Beggins to fund Haitian eye doctors and supply used U.S. equipment. The program trains local practitioners, avoids market disruption, and stems preventable blindness from cataracts in Port-au-Prince and surrounding communities.
