Peary’s North Pole Discovery Tale Issued by New York Times
Commander Robert E Peary announces in a September 9 1909 letter from Battle Harbor Labrador that Cook faked reaching the pole and vows to publish a full statement. He describes the Roosevelt expedition voyage from Aug 18 1908 to Sept 5 1908, detailing ice conditions and the effort to reach Porter Bay near Cape Joseph Henry with the Roosevelts crew and equipment.
