Citizens across city and countryside are urged to support the Jefferson County Fair opening with dates set for September 12 15 74. Officials promise liberal premiums open competition and clean amusements to unite merchants manufacturers and farmers in stronger local ties.
James P Moorhead and Mary Louise Wilson were married Thursday at the bride’s parents home in Fairceth. Rev Pearse Pineh officiated as guests enjoyed music by Armatin Schmidt-Gobble and James F Wilson Jr. The couple, praised for talent and culture, plan to live at the Moorhead home near the M I Church after a wedding trip.
Among the out of town guests at the Moorhead Wilson wedding last night were Mrs Henry Schram of Burlington Mr and Mrs AJ Steck Mr and Mrs Roy Smith of Ottumwa Miss Bessie King of Dallas City Illinois and Mr and Mrs McFarland of Pennsylvania.
The Grand Opera House audience last Thursday saw a well presented production of Why Women Sin by a skilled company. Beatrice Reynolds as a defender of a sister and Philip Pemberton as the husband impressed, with Solly Cohen shining in a comedic parody.
An Att. Pleas ant Journal report says a new copper toll line between Fairfield and Burlington will be completed in six weeks. Mt. Pleasant company and Mississippi Valley company will supply poles, with Des Moines county sections needing new pole lines. The three firms unite to capture a large toll business.

A two and a half year old child of Mr and Mrs Charles Lewis fell from an upstairs window Friday after pushing out the screen and leaning out. He was thought dead but revived after medical attention and remains very weak from the fall.
