From Georgetown Ohio Rev Willis Montgomery has accepted the unanimous call to pastor the Fairfield Presbyterian Church and will begin duties November seventh. He and his family plan to move to the city by early November. The move fills all city churches with regular pastors for the first time in weeks.

Mrs. Mary Elder died this morning about one o’clock at her daughter’s home near Libertyville after years of illness. Born in Indiana on September 26 1826 she lived in Jefferson county for forty years. Her husband died years ago she leaves several children. Remains to be moved to Avery for interment beside her husband with services deferred.

Sunday Closing Case Tried In Fairfield
Amos A. Smith owner of a North Fourth Street restaurant in New Chicago was found guilty of violating the Sunday closing law. He admitted selling goods on Sunday October 10 but argued they were necessary. He posted an appeal and was fined one dollar plus about 17 dollars in costs. If the appeal proceeds, the matter goes to Judge Roberts in Ottumwa.
