Death of Rev. J Gordon Condit
Reverend J Gordon Condit died Sunday morning at 11 o clock at his North Court Street home after months of illness. Born August 10, 1829 in Mercer County Pennsylvania he became a minister and served in Bethel Salina Viola Camp Creek Mt Zion Cawker City and Cannon City before settling in Fairfield in 1879. Surviving are five children including Rev J H Condit and Prof Ira S Condit. He supported the First Presbyterian Church and will be missed by its congregation.

Old Soldiers Meet At Fairfield Veterans Reunion
The Jefferson county veterans held their annual reunion in Fairfield with a well filled Library Hall and strong program. Mayor James P. Starr welcomed attendees. Hiram Heaton, Rev. J. A. Langston, Dr. Thomas Osborn, William G. Ross, and Mrs. J. S. Gantz gave speeches and readings. Afternoon program included music by Israel's orchestra and a paper tribute to the veteran and his wife. Evening plans listed multiple addresses, recitations, and speeches by J A Huglin and Captain W H C Jaques, with five minute speeches by old soldiers. Officers elected for the next year: Newton Williams president, Philip Cary secretary, T. F. Higley treasurer, and township vice presidents led by S. J. Chester for Fairfield and other locals.

Brighton Dam to House Electric Plant and Power Lines
The Brighton mill dam will stop grist work on November 20 and be transformed into an electric power source supplying Brighton and nearby towns. Peter Seiren sold the dam and water rights for 8,000 dollars to J. L. Whitney and L. J. Highland, who plan a concrete power house and ice proof dam covering the site.
