Veterans from across the country attend the Army of the Tennessee reunion in Council Bluffs Iowa on October 11 as the Lincoln memorial is unveiled at the site where President Lincoln was once a guest of Major General Grenville M Dodge and the city fifty years ago. The event marks the 47th gathering of the Army of the Tennessee and its half century of existence. the monument was a gift from the Iowa Daughters of the American Revolution.

Two Men Bound Over to Grand Jury in Ainsworth Robbery

The pair were arrested in Fairfield for burglarizing the J A Marsh store in Ainsworth early Saturday morning. Jacobson, 18 or 19, and Martin, about 21 or 22, are described as Chicago residents. Jacobson wrote to his sister Ida Jacobson about the arrest. The grand jury convenes October 18.

Death of George Parsons Ends Parsons College Era
George Parsons 81 father of Dr. W. E. Parsons president of Parsons College died Monday evening at 10 50 at Memorial Hospital Chicago after heart problems. He was last in Watervliet Michigan where he consulted a specialist two weeks earlier. Survived by sons Dr. W. E. Parsons and George F. Parsons. formerly Bank of Keokuk figure and Parsons & Baldwin in Watervliet. Remains to be buried in Watervliet Michigan. funeral arrangements pending arrival of the Florida son.

Street Fight Ends With Fines After Night Incident
John Harper and William Frakes fought on East Broadway Saturday night and were charged by the law. Frakes suffered a deep forehead cut requiring stitches while Harper pleaded guilty to assault and battery and paid a $15 fine plus 15 days in jail costs. Frakes pleaded guilty to drunkenness and paid $5 plus costs.

The annual meeting of the Jefferson County Old Soldiers and Sailors Association will be held in Library Hall this Saturday with a full program of speeches music and ceremonies. The day begins with a park gathering at 1 p m and marches to Library Hall for a ten o clock business session including officer elections. An afternoon and evening program features Invocation Address of Welcome by Mayor J P Starr responses from Comrade Hiram Heaton and talks by Dr Thomas Osborn W G Ross and others with music by Israel's Orchestra and a campfire gathering at 7 pm with more speeches and performances from Kerrick Stuckey Hannah Black and others. The event ends with multiple five minute speeches by old soldiers.
