Rome reports a large Franco British force arriving on the Italian front after an eight day forced march. Italian troops defend all positions as Austro German assaults are repulsed on the Asingo plateau with counterattacks yielding success according to the Italian war office.
Army headquarters report from Nov 26 notes ten days of defense at Meletta strong point with ground held and several enemy assaults repulsed. Two machine gun sections captured. Monte Grappa air combat downed two enemy planes. Italian lines hold Brenta to Piave with no ground gained by the foe. A mountain battery at Meltetta d Aventi suffered heavy losses. captain wounded and ordered crew to fire remaining gun.
Washington reports expansion of New York like emergency measures to Chicago and Great Lakes zones. Regular army patrols will man lakefront docks Chicago river terminals and rail hubs wearing army dress and armed to deter encroachment under the president’s proclamation. John Lord O'Brien says Chicago’s harbor will be guarded as closely as New York piers.
In Washington on November 26 the president and Mrs. Wilson joined spectators at a cavalry and artillery exhibition drill at Fort Myer held under the Army Relief Society.
