District court authorizes Sanford Zeigler as administrator of James Gaumer deceased to settle with the C B Q railroad for 32000 as damages for injuries causing Mr Gaumer’s death in the QQ yards on March 1.

The Libertyville senior class under Principal Bh. Ward Jr. spent Friday evening at Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Ward’s home. After charades and refreshments, heavy darkness and bad weather delayed departure. The students slept in various odd places and woke eager for the next day’s memories of the eventful evening.
Mrs. Joseph Hudgell arranged a Saturday evening gathering at the post room with G A R and W R C ladies to honor her husband. The group presented an oak chair as a keepsake, with speeches by Commander HH Bosworth Mrs Jos Gentz and J A Spielman. Hudgell spoke warmly and thanked guests while refreshments followed and guests signed a memory book for future knapsack keepsakes.
George Matlock of the Brighton News spent a Sunday visiting our city, sharing news and meeting local residents during his stay.
The city learns of Miss Lillian Boatman daughter of Rev Boatman of West Liberty Iowa preparing to wed a distant relative Mr Boatman. The couple plans a future wedding and will move to Central America where he is employed. Miss Boatman studied at Iowa Wesleyan and has many Fairfield friends. Rev Boatman formerly led the Methodist church in Fairfield.
The Catholic church held First Holy Communion Sunday morning for 34 youths eleven girls and twenty three boys in a bright packed service led by Father Hogan. He spoke briefly before departing for Eldon to administer Communion there with another class of eighteen before returning in the afternoon.
The party will soon call a county convention to nominate delegates to the state judicial and congressional conventions. After that the political activity will intensify as campaigns begin in earnest.
A letter from Mrs. Llawkins Taylor in San Francisco on April 24, 1906, recounts escaping a burning city after the quake. She and eight others shelter in a yard, walk four and a half miles to Golden Gate Park, and note damaged homes, debris, and disrupted services while praising residents’ courage and hoping for a rebuilt, more beautiful city.

Friday night about twenty five neighbors and friends called in disguise at the home of Miro and Mrs Johnson on Driggs Street. They entered with permission and enjoyed a pleasant evening with music, amusements, and a late lunch prepared by the visitors.
Wesleyan beat Penn 13 to 2 in the Friday game and followed with a 4 to T loss in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday. Penn showed improved play after the opening inning, with three runs in the first. Swingle pitched for Wesleyan and Hawk started at short.
