March Term Opens for Jefferson County Court Docket

The March term of the District court in Jefferson County opens next Monday with Judge Frank W. Eichelberger presiding. Fairfield Hero Rescues Boy From Oncoming Train

H M Miller a Loudon Machinery Co. salesman saved a seven year old boy at the Court street crossing in Fairfield just before a westbound Burlington train. The boy’s life was saved as Miller leaped from his buggy and dragged him clear as the engine and fireman reached for the child. Jury Concludes Eva Mechaniel Shot Three Times

The coroner's jury found Eva Mechaniel died from three gunshot wounds. They determined the shots were fired by H. D. McDonald with one bullet entering the left breast, another the right temple exiting the left cheek, and a third entering the left jaw.
