H H Shuffleton Sr the oldest Shasta county pioneer died in California aged nearly 89. Born 1830 in England he crossed to Iowa then traveled to California in 1849 guiding hog drives and mining. He settled near Gas Point and later lived in Shasta, serving as justice of the peace and school and lodge member. He leaves wife, children Mary Christian, Belle Stevens, H H Shuffleton Jr, and many grandchildren. Funeral in Gas Point with Masonic rites.
