Captain Hammitt of the North Central Association spoke at chapel this morning. He formerly taught at Ottumwa High School during Dr. Montgomery’s pastorate. A junior class meeting followed chapel and a joint Orio and Elzevir gathering is planned for Friday night. Dr. Carter of Burlington Presbyterian Church will speak at the Y M C A tomorrow.

Explosives Use Restrictions Loosened for Agriculture
Instructions from the director of the bureau of mines revoke all regulations on the purchase possession and use of explosives for reclaiming land stump blasting and other agricultural purposes. No license will be required moving forward as received by County Clerk Sanford Zeigler.

Union Revival Services at Fairfield Draw Big Crowd
Gus Scott the Big Swede led the union services with a vocal number as Reverend Kuhns spoke on The Power of Christ. Two came forward to accept salvation while the clash between Satan and God prompted earnest prayers for victory over sin. Tonight is Patriotic Night with special music and a sermon on Eternal Freedom, followed by Family Night Thursday with a prize for the largest family present.

Narrow escape shocks Iowa Electric worker S C Douglas
S C Douglas of Iowa Electric narrowly avoids a 33 000 volt shock while testing lightning arrester at noon. A wire contact caused a circuit to close briefly, throwing him to the ground. His wool cap saved him, though burns mark his right hand heel and head. He is improving and expected to recover.

Ruth, daughter of J B Long, has strong ties to Grace M E church and Epworth League. Bailey active in church and Y activities. he served in the army and was discharged in Washington DC before moving to Danville Illinois to reside with W H Debenham. Both plan to live in Danville after the ceremony.

Gladys Ethel Lawson born near Libertyville May 20 1907 died at home Friday March 14. She was 11 years 9 months 24 days, the only child, recently confined to bed but conscious to the end. Funeral at Mt Church conducted by Rev Stodghill and Rev Behrens. interment Fell cemetery. Six young girls honorary pallbearers. The White Rose club and other local groups held meetings and events, including a dance by the Fourth Regimental Band at the Armory and news of Grace Eaton and Michael Collins marriage in Waukon.
