The Jefferson County Farmers Institute schedules a two day Corn Contest February 1 and 2 with classes for Reid's Yellow Dent and other corn types, apples, canned fruit, bread, cakes, pies, and butter plus a special loaf prize. Judging totals 100 points across type, ear shape, color, grain, cob, market condition, and other criteria.
Leo Guy Boley of Libertyville and Lulu M. Curts of Selma wed at A S Doughty residence with H S Carpenter officiating. After a dinner hosted by David Boley, they plan to reside with the groom's parents. Boley is well known locally while Curts is described as a model young woman.
Mr and Mrs S Ross visited Eldon relatives on Sunday. James Peebler and wife hosted the M M M club on Wednesday evening at their EK home. Mrs Dan Garber and Mrs Thornton Fordyee entertained the Ladies Ald society at the Garber home Friday afternoon. Rev Hankine conducts revival at Mt Zion. Ernest Bloom leaves Libertyville for Xmas vacation in Missouri. Mrs B Gifford and Mrs Hiram Davis visit Fairfield and Wea Point respectively.
Miss Mabel Doughty married Walter Elarton at the bride’s home on December 25. A small gathering witnessed the ceremony with A S Doughty, a Free Methodist elder, pronouncing them husband and wife. A wedding dinner followed and many friends sent gifts and best wishes.
The Duttweiler children improve under Dr. Morrow in Lockridge. M Damm and Fr Craft ship hogs to Ottumwa. Nina Carlson works as clerk for Rauscher Bros during holidays. A L King and crew start a barn for John Maxwell near Glendale on Monday. Dr. Morrow’s infant child suffers a serious pneumonia illness.
