Charles TH Johnson, Swedish immigrant, dies at 106
Charles TH Johnson was born in Mayvist Sweden and died December 16 in Cendale Iowa at age 106. He left Sweden at fourteen for America and remained marked by helpfulness. He married Selma Vebure on June 26 1877 and had two sons and two daughters, with most living at home or nearby. A lifelong public worker, he served as township trustee and remained active despite rheumatism. He was a longtime Methodist member and was buried at New Sweden church with services led by Rev Tod Pool and Rev Borgerson. a large gathering mourned his passing.
