Washington February 12 The House approved a three year naval program for ten battleships and ten cruisers by 194 to 142 and adopted the overall naval appropriation bill by 281 to 50. The measure funds a three year shipbuilding program.
Paris report says Strasbourg governor Hirschauer provided sworn evidence that German forces throughout the war used the cathedral towers as machine gun supports and observation points for directing artillery fire and for listening posts against aircraft. The note claims Germans did what they accused the French of doing.
The War Department announced that seven transports and two warships depart France for the United States carrying about 12 000 troops. Arrival is scheduled in New York and Newport News between February 16 and 20. Ships include Ortega Canop ic Rotterdam Northland West Darrée for New York and President Grant Tiger for Newport News. Georgia sails for exports and cruiser St Louis to New York.
