The Taylor residence on East Briggs Street occupied by City Mail Carrier D A Ricketts and family was badly damaged by a fire Saturday forenoon. The origin is thought to be a flue in the upstairs area. Firemen arrived too late to stop the destruction. Downstairs rooms housed by Crackley family suffered heavy loss. Mrs Ricketts and family lost many belongings though insured. afternoon flare ups required a second call.

Hook Wins Prizes for Packwood Red Corn at National Show
William A. Hook of Packwood a leading seed corn raiser in Jefferson county won first prize at the National Corn Show in Columbus Ohio for ten ears of red corn.
