Fairfield Builder George Gilchrist Dies at 1 A M
George Gilchrist a Fairfield resident died Friday morning at his South Fourth Street home from pneumonia after years of poor health. Born July 28, 1847 in Westmoreland PA, he worked as a contractor and builder before moving to Iowa. Survived by three brothers, one sister, and four children including Charles and Harry in Kansas City. He joined the Presbyterian church.

Died This Afternoon Christina Bowman Widow of Jeff Bowman
Mrs Christina Bowman died shortly after noon today at her daughter Mrs Ralph Lamson s home on South Main street after a brief illness of la grippe. She was 84 and a Jefferson County resident since 1869 born October 21 1830 in Sweden. Surviving children are Joan Bowman Pearl Idaho Godfrey Bowman Mr Sterling and Mrs Ralph Lamson of this city. Funeral plans not yet set likely Friday or Saturday pending son Johns arrival from Idaho.

Senate OKs river and harbor bill with new appropriations
The senate approved the river and harbor bill from the house totaling 29.26 million dollars plus 1.8 million in cash and 3.39 million for continuing contracts. New authorizations include 150,900 to improve the upper Missouri River from Labeau South Dakota to Fort Benton Montana 140,000 for Weymouth Fore River in Massachusetts and 198,000 for the harbor at South Haven Michigan. Senator Burton of Ohio opposed parts of the bill but failed to block them including the Beaumont Orange channel in Texas and Missouri River expenditures.

J B Youmans, a notable Libertyville resident, died about 5 30 this morning after a ten day illness from pneumonia. He had lived in Jefferson County for years and was known in Fairfield. His daughter Mrs Harley Hoopes was with him. Mrs Youmans is ill. Funeral arrangements not yet made but likely Friday. The burial is to be in Fairfield.

Former Nebraska resident Caroline Mouck dies
The remains of Caroline Mouck died Monday in Broken Bow Nebraska arrived this afternoon on Burlington No 6 and were taken to the home of her daughter Prudence Proutz. Interment will be in Glendale Union Cemetery. She was born Caroline Taylor and was twice married to Stephen Hickenbottom and William Mouck. Twelve children with three survivors in the city.
