Life sentence for Hoskinson
Tom Hoskinson, confessed murderer of policeman Theo Gerischer, was today sentenced to life imprisonment in Muscatine Iowa. Judge Horan presided as a large crowd gathered at the county courthouse. attorney A W Jaques defended Hoskinson and pleaded about his troubled youth. Hoskinson showed no emotion as the sentence was read.

A mysterious burglar visited several Fairfield residences early Christmas Eve. Mrs. Nelson Smith lost about three dollars a gold band ring and a scarf. Mr. Warwick’s hats handkerchiefs and fruit were taken. E L Stephenson’s coat and overcoat vanished and a woolen blanket left behind. Rev. W W Montgomery’s coat and Mr Warwick’s hat were swapped for Montgomery’s. Otto Woelhat’s home was entered previously and again none gained entrance Sunday night.
