Samuel E Bigelow longtime Jefferson County boot and shoe maker died at his East Briggs Street home shortly after 7:15 AM He was 89 wife Mary Holliday daughter Luean Kate Hamilton Cynthia L Hammond survived by two daughters Born Worcester County MA February 20 1825 he moved to Marietta Ohio then to this city in 1858 serving as councilman and city clerk He was a 60 year Odd Fellow member Funeral services with Jefferson Lodge No 41 O F will be held Monday at 2 PM conducted by Rev Pearse Pinch.

Maxwell Case Ends In Not Guilty Verdict
The J. B. Maxwell trial concluded around four o'clock after all evidence was heard. Judge Roberts ruled the case could not convict on a technicality and directed a not guilty verdict. The concurrent case against John Peebler was dismissed. Indictments against Fern Powell and Arthur Pickett will be tried next Monday. Court adjourned until 1:30 PM Monday.
