United States Public Service Reserve draws many men locally
The United States Public Service Reserve, organized by the Government, attracts many men with Jefferson County chairmanship by C. J. Fulton. Miss Neta Gobble Dies at 14 Near Abingdon
Miss Neta Gobble daughter of Mr and Mrs Emmett Obble died late Sunday night at their home one mile south of Abingdon after a lingering illness with dropsy. She leaves a younger sister and bereaved parents. Funeral services set for Tuesday at 1 20 PM at the Christian church in Abingdon, with burial in the nearby cemetery.

Tug Moran Founders After Galling Gale. Eleven Dead
The tug Eugene F Moran sank three miles off the New Jersey coast after a day of severe storms while towing two barges from New York to Philadelphia. The captain and ten crew members perished. Coast guards saved four aboard the barges and later rescued a group of gunners at Green Bay.
