Speed and confusion from two autos a horse and buggy contributed to the accident, which a light vehicle struck the child and was going slowly. Also in the week C T Forbes north of town was thrown from a hay carrier when the rope broke badly bruising his shoulder though no bones were broken. Porter McMullen son of C T Forbes, a mechanist’s mate in the aviation corps at Great Lakes Training Camp, Chicago, was granted a twelve day furlough to help on the farm and may stay longer due to wartime priorities.
