Washington dispatch reports 70 000 enemy prisoners since the start of the great battle. Pershing says all resources are mobilized and divisions will be used if needed. Paris and London notes indicate French progress and restrained German assaults north of the Somme amid local fighting.
A wartime dispatch reports Allied forces gaining ground at multiple fronts near the Somme and Scarpe. British and French troops counterattacked despite heavy German offensives, with Monchel and Marcelcave contested and German losses mounting.
Official report says 75 people died and 90 wounded when German long range guns struck a church near Paris during Good Friday services. Among the dead was H. Stroehlin, counselor of the Swiss legation. The same church was hit again last Sunday during high mass. The bombardment began after 3 PM yesterday.
Washington reports that for January, 172 railroads had operating revenues of $270,231,813, up about $50 million from private operation last month but down over $15 million from January of last year.

An official BLS release shows a 1 426 000 rise in women employed since 1914. Industries added 580 000 more women, government service 216 000, and domestic roles 400 000 women shifted from domestic service or dressmaking. Women have replaced 1 415 000 men since WWI.
Phelps Collins of Detroit a mentor of the Lafayette wing corps was killed on the French front March 18 during patrol duty. He engaged multiple German aircraft steering one enemy down before being hit and falling inside enemy lines. David Putnam of Brookline Mass member of the Lafayette escadrille has downed two more German airplanes bringing his total to five with four officially confirmed.
Amsterdam reports a stunned reaction to claims that Holland refused American grain in exchange for the use of Dutch ships. No confirmation of such caucusal business.
