Audit finds violations in Fairfield Area School District budget
The Pennsylvania Auditor General found the Fairfield Area School District budget for 1972-73 violated the Public School Code. The district allegedly created a capital reserve fund without board approval, used postage funds as petty cash, and deposited thousands into a savings account at First National Bank of Fairfield. It also approved monthly postage funds without proper purchase orders and receipts, prompting calls for compliance, proper receipts, and tighter budget review before excess expenditures. For 1971-72 total cash expenditures were $869,818 with $407,462 received. the following year showed $6,607 in expenditures and $382,558 in receipts.
