Children of Thieves and the Curse on Their Kin
A NY newspaper feature discusses how children born to thieves suffer in poverty and social stigma. It describes reform efforts by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the mixed outcomes of placing wards in rural homes, noting many drift back to institutions or become entangled in crime themselves. The piece contrasts the misfortune of poverty with the even harsher lot of bank burglars' offspring.

Instances include a bank clerk’s daughter who supports a sister after discovering her banker father’s crime.
