Frightful explosion rattles Lyonshort iron works scene
A massive boiler explosion at Lyonshort & Co iron mill on the South Side injures many and kills several workers. The blast wrecked buildings, shattered windows, and caused fires along Lake Road as police and firemen comb the ruins for the dead and injured. Victims include John W. Allen Charles Douglass John McGavigan and others. several more are fatally hurt or died later. The coroner orders a full inquest into the disaster.

Corry Pennsylvania September 2 1865 veteran Mr R B Clark of Lottsville formerly of the Fourth Pennsylvania Cavalry had a shot in the left leg on February 6 1865. With the limb in poor condition doctors at Hamot Hospital performed an amputation above the knee with the ball found near the bone. Operation succeeded and Clark is reported to be doing remarkably well. case deemed critical and to be watched closely.
