Tow-boat Amos sinks after river collision near Punhendie Bridge

Hanging of Lander Cole Man in Berrevce, La
A colored man named Lander Cole was hanged in Berrevce on May 25 for murdering his brother in law John Gayle. Eight hundred people attended the execution. Coleman confessed to the Gayle murder and claimed he also killed his stepfather, for which a white man named Benny Shaw was tried and nearly convicted. He said he deserved the hanging and warned listeners against firearms.
