About ten this morning a large fire broke out at the Michigan Carbon Works in Rougeville a suburb. The bone black building quickly caught and flames spread. engines from nearby failed to control it. Two city engines were sent and by five oclock the fire showed signs of being checked though structural walls fell. Loss is estimated around 500000 with 300000 insured. about two hundred workers were employed, several burned but not seriously. Isaac Burke the general foreman fell from a building and sustained serious injuries.

A clever counterfeiter using the alias Mitchell from New York was caught late Thursday night while shoving the queer. He was arrested and his room searched revealing tools to manufacture bogus silver dollars and a stash of counterfeit coins. Joan Downey of East Toledo was arrested as an accomplice after passing some of the coins. The scheme operated in Toledo for several months.
