Kentucky feud between Tolliver and Martin factions continues with violence. Marshal-elect Craig Tolliver wounded during attempt to execute a warrant, as armed Martins barricade and threaten renewed clashes. Reports warn of possible troop involvement to quell the conflict.
Mr Burciari, suspended as Director of the Mint, wrote Secretary Manning to explain he will not resign. He argues the Mint director serves a fixed five year term and removal should be by the President for cause, not politics.
