Sundry civil bill funds public buildings nationwide

The Sundry Civil Bill lists allocations for public buildings in multiple cities including Cincinnati, Cleveland, Des Moines, Memphis, and New Orleans with amounts ranging from thousands to hundreds of thousands. It also funds lighthouse projects, river and harbor work, and support for the Smithsonian and Agriculture departments to participate in the New Orleans exposition. American Prohibition Party adopts platform and nominates Pomeroy

The American Prohibition party convened in Cariaco appointing Ex Senator Pomeroy as platform chair. The platform calls for Bible based government, strict prohibition, abolition of secret lodge oaths, opposition to slavery of any sort, arbitration for international disputes, and a direct presidential vote. Pomeroy led the presidential ticket with Go' Ros, Yoho, and J. Higuebardiot named. The convention adjourned to an afternoon session where the platform was adopted and nominations made.

Blaine Nominated by National Committee in Augusta

June 21 Augusta Maine crowd gathers as National Committee notifies James G Blaine of his presidential nomination. Henderson reads the notification address under elm shade. Blaine replies thanking the committee and pledges to study Chicago platform while inviting them to visit. Public reception in Portland follows.
