Grain markets show mixed results with slight changes in corn and wheat. Cincinnati reports dull pork and beans with modest bids and Toledo notes higher wheat, dull corn, and nominal oats with bids near 57 4 to 60 1/8.
Westford plans a new Erie and Pittsburg Railroad station between Espyville and Jamestown. A Gowanda barn owned by Jno Litz burned after a lightning strike. A Gowanda child died after scalding from hot slop. Brocton gains a hotel and restaurant at the station from Gay C Irving. Fredonia citizens organize a national bank in the West with a capital near 66,600. Charles Ewing near death from pneumonia at home. Gen Ewing related to Gen Sherman. Professor Federlein of Buffalo inspected Liz German singing societies for Buffalo July Sacayeurfest. Erie mass chorus expected to win spoils.
An adjourned meeting of the common council was held last evening at the chamber. One alderman moved that when we adjourn we adjourn to the rink. Councilman Murphy moved to adjourn, and it was carried.
A free stereopticon exhibition with Calcium Light will show over 150 fine and comical views tonight at Centre street at 8 o'clock. No collection will be taken.
In Peekskill a Rev Dr Crawford of St Pauls Methodist rakes the National Guard over the coals in a sermon urging parents to watch daughters during camp. Soldiers assembled, provost marshal orders return. Col Vose may limit passes to Peekskill to shorten camp exposure.
