The Richmond market reports gales at auction for North Carolina War bonds at 4 per 1000, with brokers active for all Confederate coupon securities. Thomas Branch & Co. bought over 20 million in bonds as part of the broader surge in demand across markets.

James Nutt son of late Capt A C Nutt shot and killed N L Dukes, his father s murderer, near Uniontown Pa today at about 7 30 PM. Four shots struck Dukes as he ran toward the post office steps, a fifth hit his neck. Nutt, calm but pale, surrendered and is held in jail. The revolver was the same weapon Capt Nutt carried at his death, coroner s jury seated amid high excitement.

In Rockford Coosa county Alabama a man named Jordan Corbin killed three members of the Carden family, Benj Carden his wife and their son as they lay in their home. In Limbo Louisiana June 13 inspector Dice of St. Louis arrived with W. W. Treadwell charged with robbing a postal car on June 5 along the Louisiana and Texas railroad.
