The Sheet Mill men of the Amalgamated Association meet in secret to weigh accepting a ten percent wage cut from manufacturers. No official word on the outcome as leaders refuse to confirm or deny. Some fear a concession would end the strike while others condemn the idea as unfair to the broader union. Coke shipments and oven idle counts show continued industry disruption. The beam hands at Allegheny City tanneries ended their strike and returned to work on employer terms.

In San Francisco on Wednesday night a four style mixed wrestling match between Duncan C. Rose and Clarence Whistler ended with Ross defeating Whistler. Whistler took Graeco Roman and catch as catch can while Ross won collar and elbow and aide hold. The final deciding bout saw Ross selected collar and elbow and throw Whistler to clinch the match.

In Toreka Kansas on June 5 the State Board of Agriculture secretary has not released the wheat crop report but private sources say Hessian fly and chinch bugs are damaging the crop with an expected harvest of 15 to 20 million bushels.

In France, Jules Ferry faced impeachment rejected 392 to 158 as parliament dissolved into turmoil with duels anticipated. Other items report Gladstone on Afghan frontier talks and Russia moving toward tax reforms.

A thousand k feet of Michigan white pine lumber on the dock mostly saved. Origin unknow, may not rebuild. Also damage to Mudge & Co shop at Danvers Center and Plainwell Opera House fire in Michigan.
